MCS Alumni Profile: Paige Miller Posted on March 31st, 2016 by

PaigeMillerTell us about yourself.
I graduated from Gustavus in 2015 with degrees in Mathematics and Biology. I am currently enrolled as aPhD Student in Ecology of Infectious Diseases at the University of Georgia.

How did the MCS department help you get where you are today?

The MCS department has tremendously supportive faculty and a good variety of courses. I was encouraged to apply for external research opportunities through the National Science Foundation and attend conferences and workshops that made me a competitive applicant for graduate school straight out of GAC.

What is your favorite memory or memories of the MCS department?

Running into professors in the hallways, missing my next class because I loved chatting with them (Rosoff, TJ, Rietz); calc III, even though it was one of the toughest courses I’ve ever taken; hanging out with Aaron and his kids every once and awhile; chatting with Carolyn about our love of statistics; and taking a whiskey shot with TLO in Wisconsin. And tons more. Also, taking CS I with Lu when he said, “I’m like the Paris Hilton of professors.’

Thanks for the update Paige. It’s good to hear from you.
