MCS Alumni Profile: James Moechnig

Tell us about yourself. I graduated from Gustavus in 1999 with a degree in Computer Science. I am currently working as a Professional Services Consultant at NetApp. I assist large businesses with deployment, use, and customization of NetApp OnCommand Insight, a software product that helps them monitor, manage, and plan their data storage infrastructure.

MCS Teams Compete in MAA Contest

Earlier this month the MCS Department had two teams of students compete in the team mathematics contest organized by the Mathematical Association of America's North Central Section. We had a great result: Our younger team (including two first-year students!) solved two problems plus substantial progress on a third, placing them ahead of 14 other teams from the region. The more experienced team tied for 11th place out of 59 teams competing.

Six MCS Students participate in the 2016 NCNA ACM-ICPC

Six MCS Students went to Macalester College this past Saturday to participate in the regional ACM Intercollegiate Programming Contest. Tell us about yourself. I graduated from Gustavus in 1998 with a degree in Math/Computer Science, Secondary Education. I’m currently the Executive Director of Technology & Data Services for Lakeville Area Public Schools. I’m also heavily involved in Statistics Education through the AP Reading, developing media for high school and college stats packages, and authored "Strive for a 5: Preparing for the AP Statistics Exam".
