A Second Seminar on Second-Order Linear Differential Equations Posted on September 26th, 2011 by

Second-Order Linear Differential Equations and Integrating Factors, Part 2

When: Wed, September 28, 11:30am – 12:20pm
Where: Olin Hall 320
Presenter: Ron Rietz

For first-order linear differential equations, a simple routine determines an integrating factor which leads to an integral expression giving all of the solutions of the equation. For second-order linear differential equations there doesn’t appear to be such a universally applicable process, but it turns out you can make a non-trivial amount of progress in this direction by adapting the idea of integrating factors to this family of equations.

Lunch will be served.

This presentation is part of the MCS Seminar series; please see the calendar of upcoming events. Also, please email suggestions for future seminars as well as any questions.
