Title: Bioenergy, Methamphetamines, and the Military: Using Statistics to Answer Real-World Questions
Abstract: Statistics is frequently used in research to help answer real-world questions. This talk briefly describes several projects that new E/M and MCS faculty member Dr Laura Hildreth has worked on that use statistics to help answer real-world questions. These questions span a variety of areas including the use of bioenergy in cancer patients and to reduce stress in college students, the development of a depression instrument for methamphetamine users, using machine learning to read government contracts and predict outcomes, and assessing the impact of COVID-19 on active duty military personnel.
