Professor John Holte, who is retiring after 36 years of service to Gustavus Adolphus College, was honored by current students with a gift of a framed Word Cloud created on the Worldle web site. Meghan Peterson, President of the MCS Club, presented John with this framed gift at the annual MCS Department picnic held on May 15, 2012 at the Linnaeus Arboretum on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College.
Meghan contacted current Gustavus Adolphus College students and faculty and asked them to submit the words or phrases that best describe Professor Holte. From this Wordle created the Word Cloud shown in the picture above.
The word “helpful” was entered by so many students that in the original Word Cloud, it overshadowed every other word including John’s name! Naturally, adjustments were made to the input to generate the image shown here.
