As an effort to promote their devices and App World, RIM offered free Blackberry Playbooks to Android developers for a limited amount of time. Computer Science Major Matt Knutson (’14) is one of many who submitted Blackberry Apps to the App World to receive a free Blackberry Playbook.

What Blackberry App did Matt submit to earn his free tablet? Matt collaborated with Yunong Chen (’14), Hayden Goldstien (’15) and Jessica Van Kempen (’14) to develop an original iPhone game during the last J-Term in courses MCS-103 (What Makes Games Fun) and MCS-202 (iPhone Development) taught by Visiting Assistant Professors Choong-Soo Lee and Guarionex Salivia. Because Matt owns an Android phone, he ported their project to the Android platform during the touring week. Upon finding out about the Blackberry promotion, he converted his Android project into a Blackberry App for submission. In a few weeks, a Blackberry Playbook arrived at his doorstep.
