Math T-Shirt to Rock Minneapolis! Posted on October 7th, 2010 by

Two and a half years ago, I posted on this blog about the seemingly indestructible t-shirts from the 1979 and 1980 Gustavus math contests that Oliver Ackerman regularly wears while performing. To update that story, Ernie Ackerman emailed me two news items. (1) At least the 1979 shirt is still going strong; it is clearly visible in these photos, and Oliver visibly isn’t avoiding stressing the shirt, in fact he is “a killer who has crafted the sacrifice of his instruments to such a degree as to call it art.” (2) Excitingly for those around here, the group will be playing in Minneapolis on October 15. Will that performance include a Gustavus t-shirt as the title of this post suggests? To be honest, I don’t know; I don’t have an inside connection to the wardrobe department. Finding out provides one more reason to attend; just remember to bring your earplugs!
