Zupan Awarded Goldwater Scholarship Posted on April 3rd, 2006 by

Gustavus math major Alex Zupan has been awarded a prestigious Goldwater Scholarship by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation. The Foundation was established and funded by the United States Congress to honor former Senator Barry M. Goldwater by providing financial encouragement to outstanding students in mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering. All 1081 nominees were highly qualified, as they had been selected by the faculty of their respective institutions based on their achievements. From this pool of 1081 highly qualified students, only 323 were selected to receive the $7,500 scholarship, including only 32 math majors. Alex is in elite company. Congratulations!
