MCS Alumni Profile: Danielle Berg ’08 Posted on November 29th, 2017 by

Tell us about yourself.

I graduated from Gustavus in 2008 with degrees in Mathematics and Physics. I just finished working at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee as an Astrophysics postdoc and I am starting another postdoc position at The Ohio State University.

How did the MCS department help you get where you are today?

The courses gave me the math and programming background that I needed to be successful in academic research. The faculty were also very supportive and encouraging. They helped me overcome periods of dealing with the “imposter syndrome” and pushed me to achieve my goals.

Anything else you would like to add or mention?

I enjoyed and learned from every single faculty member I had (TJ Morrison, Tom LoFaro, Jeff Rosen, Ron Rietz, Mike Hvidsten).

Thanks for the update Danielle. It’s good to hear from you.
