MCS Alumni Profile: Hans Anderson Posted on April 27th, 2016 by

I graduated from Gustavus in 2001 with a degree in Computer Science. I am currently working in Singapore and Vietnam as the Director of a software company that makes iOS apps for musicians.

How did the MCS department help you get where you are today?

Aside from the obvious answer (that they taught me math and computer science), I kept in touch with Max Hailperin over the years. He helped me by writing the reference letter that got me into grad school (I needed a good, sincere sounding letter because my grades weren’t excellent). I also spent a lot of time making music with other MCS students and music experience has been as important to my career as computer science has.

What is your favorite memory or memories of the MCS department?

Staying up all night in the computer lab with Charleston Blue and Nathan Dahlke every time an assignment was due.

Thanks for the update Hans. It’s good to hear from you.
