This past J-Term the StarCraft Club hosted the third StarCraft II tournament. Unlike the first two tournaments, this year’s tournament took place in two phases: the group stage and elimination bracket. Twelve students were divided into two groups, where top two players in each group advanced to the elimination bracket for semifinal and final matches. David Buckley (’13) and Derek Evenson (’13) provided a live commentary for every match for students spectating the matches. After 3 weeks of group stage matches, Dan O’Keefe (’15), Mike Patton (’13), Charlie Stokes (’14) and Joshua Wolanyk (’15) advanced to the elimination bracket. In the grand final, Dan and Joshua competed against each other in a best-of-five match. Although Joshua led 2-0 at first, Dan won the final 3-2. Both finalists received gift certificates to the Book Mark that were sponsored by the MCS department. If you are interested in the tournament bracket and want to watch the game replays (the replays require an installation of StarCraft II), click here.
